The seminars combine meditation, silence and experiencing nature, often based on the WISDOM method. Current dates can be found directly in the booking calendar on the website.

The pavilion is temperature-controlled and equipped with air conditioning, offering comfortable seating for approximately 30 people.

For informal conversations, philosophising and exchanges with like-minded people:
Our common room ‘Mazi’ is a gathering place for all guests of our house and also the place where our soul of the house Harris serves his handmade Greek snacks and breakfast.

The common room can accommodate at least 16 people and can be extended onto our terrace on two sides.

Our new therapy room, ‘Kalivi’:
This relaxing space is located directly below the yoga terrace and offers small groups the opportunity to retreat.

Do you long for a deep silence that goes far beyond the silence outside? Are you looking for a way not only to find peace, but also to hear your inner wisdom more clearly?

In a world that constantly demands us to be louder, faster and more present, we invite you to a special form of contemplation: a combination of the deep, clarifying practice of Vipassana and the grounding, meditative work of olive harvesting.

Vipassana: Bringing in the Inner Harvest

For the Wisdom Method, Vipassana is more than just a meditation technique. It is a way to become still and listen to what is truly alive within you. In the silence of sitting, we observe without judging. We become witnesses to our own inner landscape. Thoughts, feelings and sensations come and go like clouds in the sky. Over time, we recognise what is truly nourishing and what we can let go of. This practice is the real inner harvest: gathering clarity, insight and deep inner peace.

The olive harvest: Mindfulness at work

Working in nature is a central anchor of wisdom. When we work with our hands, we ground our minds. Olive harvesting is an archaic, rhythmic activity that connects us directly to the cycle of giving and taking, of sowing and reaping. Every movement, every scent, every sound becomes meditation. In this mindful activity in the here and now, the endless loops of thought dissolve. We step out of our heads and arrive fully in our bodies. The silence of the surrounding nature becomes our own silence.

The connection: Where silence meets action

The true magic of this retreat lies in the synergy between these two paths. We deepen the inner peace and presence gained through Vipassana during the olive harvest. The meditative, physical work, in turn, grounds the insights gained from silent meditation and makes them tangible.

Sitting quietly nourishes mindful work, and working in nature brings silence to life. You reap not only the fruits of the olive tree, but also the fruits of your inner contemplation. It is a time when you experience the fullness of life – both externally and internally – with all your senses.

Are you ready to immerse yourself in silence and reap the double harvest of your life? We look forward to seeing you.

In the midst of Greece’s unspoilt nature, in a place dedicated to mindfulness and inner reflection, Peli Kastri has created a new space that touches the soul and can be used ALL YEAR ROUND. We are delighted to present our new Strohboid Pavilion – an architectural masterpiece that serves as our new meditation spot under the starry sky.

This pavilion is more than just a tent. It is the physical manifestation of our philosophy at Peli Kastri: living in harmony with nature, focusing on the essentials and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests. The decision to choose a pavilion from Strohboid was a conscious choice for sustainability, design and an atmosphere that invites guests to linger and reflect.

The perfect symbiosis: Why Strohboid and Peli Kastri belong together

Peli Kastri is a mindfulness centre founded by Elisabeth and Peter Riedl to offer people a retreat by the sea that focuses on their own mental and physical development. The beauty and tranquillity of the landscape are the cornerstones of the experience. We were looking for an extension to our facility that not only respects these values, but actively emphasises them.

We have found the ideal partner in Strohboid. The Austrian company shares our vision of sustainability and aesthetics. Strohboid pavilions are famous for their organic shape, which blends elegantly into the natural environment. True to the motto ‘Form Follows Nature’, the design mimics the flexibility and efficiency of natural structures.

You can find more information about Strohboid’s stunning products and projects here: Strohboid

A space that breathes: sustainability and design in harmony

The pavilion consists of a patented wooden lattice structure made from locally sourced and sustainably managed wood. This innovative material is not only environmentally friendly, but also surpasses steel in terms of stability. The translucent membrane roof allows natural light to flood into the space, creating a bright, inviting atmosphere that protects and connects with the outside world. It feels like sitting under a protective canopy of leaves, sheltered from the wind and weather, yet still surrounded by nature.

These characteristics make the pavilion the perfect place for our meditation and yoga sessions. Here, you can find yourself undisturbed, let your gaze wander over the sea and soak up the calming energy of this unique place.

Protected yet a space filled with air

From inner reflection to cinematic experience

But the pavilion is also a place of diversity. When the sun goes down and the stars begin to twinkle over the Aegean Sea, our place of tranquillity is transformed into an exclusive open-air cinema. Equipped with a modern projector, we offer the opportunity to enjoy films or presentations in an incomparable atmosphere.

Experience the difference in Peli Kastri

The new Strohboid Pavilion is another highlight that will make your stay at Peli Kastri unforgettable. It is proof that luxury, sustainability and a deep connection with nature can go hand in hand. It is a space created to inspire, calm and bring joy.

Ready to discover this magical place for yourself?

We cordially invite you to experience the special atmosphere of our new pavilion. Find your centre during morning meditation or enjoy an unforgettable film evening under the stars.

“WOMAN Balance” Kristin Pelzl-Scheruga

Kristin Pelzl-Scheruga is editor-in-chief for Body, Mind & Soul (WOMAN Balance). She visited us in Peli Kastri and took part in Peter Riedl’s mindfulness retreat.

In “WOMAN Balance,” she shares her experiences:

Upon arrival, I feel a deep connection that I cannot quite explain. The next morning, our course begins, in which we are to be initiated into “The Secret of Mindfulness”: I have had a good breakfast and trudge across the dusty ground amid centuries-old olive trees to the yoga platform, where meditation teacher Peter Riedl is already waiting for us. It is hot, windy, and I can hear the crickets chirping. “They’re allowed to do that!” I think, a little enviously. We are supposed to remain silent, even during meals. In addition: no alcohol, no meat, no social media, no sex. […]

Silence is challenging, but it is beneficial.

When we’re not studying, we let Julia spoil us. She is the tavern manager and a wonderful cook. Stuffed eggplant, tzatziki, tarama, bougatsa: “It’s for people who love the simple life,” she laughs. We don’t always manage to keep quiet. We are too interested in each other’s life stories.

On the other hand, silence is also relieving. Polite phrases, the constant urge to comment on, evaluate, or describe everything—all of that suddenly disappears. There is enormous power in becoming still, and one almost automatically shifts into a state of conscious presence. More and more often, I am able to identify thoughts and feelings as such. Suddenly, life itself becomes meditation. […]

WISDOM TRAINING

Immerse yourself in the enriching world of WISDOM training. This year-long journey takes you through five modules, including seminars in Greece and Vienna. Experience mindfulness, meditation, inquiry and effort in their essence. The training goes beyond simply imparting knowledge – it enables personal transformation and enables you to actively pass on what you have learned.

Difference from other forms of Buddhism

The difference to religious Buddhism lies primarily in the interpretation of individual teaching content, Buddhist terms and beliefs, such as the doctrine of dependent emergence, the definition of rebirth, enlightenment, ignorance and the methods of Buddhist mental training.

Difference from other methods of mental exercise, such as psychotherapy

WISDOM could be described as Buddhist therapy. However, the focus is not on analyzing personal problems, but rather on recognizing and overcoming them yourself without evaluating and judging them.

The WISDOM training is for you if you:

Already have experience in meditation, mindfulness or yoga.

Want to deepen and expand your understanding of a mindful life.

Want to pass on the WISDOM method.

Want to develop skills as a meditation and mindfulness teacher.

The training lasts 1 year and extends over five modules, which take place in a mix of face-to-face units in Vienna, online units and as self-study.

Module 1: Mindfulness

7 days seminar in Greece

Personal feedback after the course

Module 2: Finding Inner Peace – The Essence of Mindfulness and Meditation

Module 3: Deeper Calm and Problem Solving

Module 4: Consciousness, Creativity and Leadership

Modules 2 – 4 each consist of 6 evening units on the main focus of the module with lectures, exercises, joint meditations and reflections on the exercises. The units take place online or in person in Vienna.

1 personal feedback at the end of each module

Module 5: Maturity, Overcoming Suffering and Enlightenment – Applying what you have learned

4 day seminar in Vienna

Finally, you will complete a specially created 60-minute unit with your course team.

Self-study

For each module, self-study is planned for integration into everyday life. Here, the teaching content made available on our Learn platform should be developed independently. We provide you with video lectures, concrete exercises and our WISDOM manual. These documents are included in the module price. As part of self-study, it is planned to form small groups over the course of the training in order to design courses for yourself and your team. We support these and provide space for them.

Course leader: Peter Riedl

Do you have any questions? You can reach the WISDOM team at wisdom@pelikastri.com.

Curriculum (subject to change)

The exact course of the training courses will be determined together with Peter Riedl. Inquiries for personal preliminary discussions with Peter Riedl at info@peterriedl.at.
